One week from today, my second book comes out.
Y’all, that still feels like a dream. My second book. I wrote one and it miraculously got published. Then I wrote another one. And it is getting published.
Crazy madness.

What my brain keeps doing.Â
When I was a kid dreaming of writing, I never, ever really thought I’d get published.
When I was a young college student and my writing professor told me that I didn’t have what it took to become a writer, I believed him.
But writing wouldn’t leave me alone. When I went back to school to get a masters degree in writing, I knew I’d found my path. It took longer than I would have liked. I found my feet at the exact right time though. I wouldn’t be the write I am now if I’d gotten myself together ten or fifteen years ago.
My thesis advisor said something to me that I hold close to my heart every day. “Please do the best you can by your work as you continue–you have the kind of talent that deserves every sacrifice you make for it.” I think that’s something every writer has to do. Sacrifice for their craft. I’m glad I understand that now.
This isn’t a real blog post. I just wanted to tell y’all that. Life has been rough lately and my advisor’s words keep coming back to me.
I also wanted to share a teaser for my upcoming novel, Fresh Faith. If you want to keep seeing teasers, follow me over on Twitter or Instagram or Facebook. I’ll be posting one a day until it is out on August first.
